Davisburg-based Promise Village: Home for Children was recently awarded a planning grant of nearly $200,000 by the Battle Creek-based W.K. Kellogg Foundation for study and research.
Funds are to be used to determine how to replicate and sustain Promise Village’s early-intervention programs for abused, neglected and troubled children for use around the nation and possibly across the globe.
A portion of the funds will be used to hire a full-time director of development to create and carry out fund-raising strategies for the organization. Promise Village is accepting applications.
Promise Village has contracted with Intellitrends L.L.C., a market-research company in Clarkston, to conduct research to determine whether interest exists in other locations for its programs and how to package them to work elsewhere.
Promise Village, on a 70-acre ranch, provides a residential intervention program for children and their families. The nonprofit’s annual operating budget is $432,000.
Currently, more than 300 children are on the waiting list to be enrolled. The home has room for only 12 children.
